In the history of Hollywood, it is no doubt that Jodie Foster is one of the most beautiful and most talented actresses. But the most famous thing for her is not her goodliness but her independence.
Foster was born in November 19, 1962, in Los Angeles, California. She was very different from other children since her childhood. Starting acting career at the age of two, she was the principal breadwinner of the family. So we can see her independence from her childhood. When she was eight, she had already shown on more than 40 ads. In 1975 Foster was offered the role of the prostitute Iris in the movie Taxi Driver, for which she receives an Academy Award nomination in the "Best Supporting Actress" category, marked a breakthrough in her career. This can tell people one thing that the girl is a genius, for this some people said her "wise beyond her years". At that time there were many Hollywood children the same as her, but when they were grown up, few of them can still give people deep impressions, and Jodie was one of the magic Hollywood children.
What is more, as the years went by, Foster didn't get any less smart with age, even while spending the full-time in acting, Foster managed to find the time to graduate as class valedictorian from her French language high school, and later she came to Yale University to study English Literature. When she study in Yale University, she made herself busying in study, but something unexpected happened ,a crazy fan named John Hinckley attempted to assassinate the President of the United States, Ronald Reagan in order to made Foster know him . Hinckley was obsessed with Jodie and the movie Taxi Driver (1976), in which there was a similar thing .This terrible thing made the life of Foster in to a mess, many Medias blamed Foster for this terrible thing, and in front of media, Foster kept silence .After a few years, she finally got rid of this terrible thing. This is one tragic moment in her life.
Once school was over and Foster found she only had acting to deal with, she occupied her spare time by acting in movies. Despite the fact that Jodie never took acting lessons, she received two Oscars before she was thirty years of age. She received her first award for her part as Sarah Tobias in The Accused (1988), after this, she attempted to direct movie "little man Tate". This movie was a mirror of her. And the second award is for her performance as Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs (1991).
In order to get bigger success, she open a company called Egg, under which she directed movies such as Nell and for her part in Nell, once again Foster walked away with an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. And in other Egg Productions, she used her own voice for the French versions of her films as she is fluent in the language. Because of her company, she became one of the most powerful woman in the world.
Now , Foster still acts in movies, but she is very strict in choose the kind of movie ,and may be because of that ,even her movies now is not too much, many people like them and her acting .
"Normal is not something to aspire to; it's something to get away from." Jodie Foster said .So her had made a different thing to us, her independence tell the world that a woman can do well as man do .she can get her goals because of her never giving-up and her impendence. And her independence makes so many people respect her.
Compared to Hollywood's other leading ladies, Jodie Foster doesn't appear in movies too often, but when she does, the audiences can remember them. Her performances in Taxi Driver and The Silence of the Lambs contributed to making these films particularly memorable, and her role in Panic Room proved that, more than thirty-five years into her career, Jodie's still got what it takes to sell tickets. And people never forget her.
In Hollywood, there are so many famous actresses, and Foster can get to this status not because of her goodliness but her independence, we respect her.
